I LOVE Segovia!! The streets are charming and are so lovely to just stroll along. You can sit along the 2000 year old aqueduct, eat the most exquisite Castilian dishes and just….take it all in. Once finished, follow the cobblestone streets up the hill to Plaza Mayor, the centre of old town. Chose a street and follow it, there’s no wrong choice. Further along, is the Alcazar of Segovia, a 12th century castle, believed to be one of the inspirations for the Disney castle. You can climb the tower, and the views are absolutely breathtaking.

The Roman Aqueduct of Segovia was built in 50 AD. Over the millennia, parts of it have been replaced or reinforced by concrete pipes, but it still remain in use today. It is believed that it’s usefulness as a local water supply has been the cause of its survival, rather then being reused and recycled to build churches and monasteries, like what was done in many other Roman towns.
